Session 9: Atmospheric Models

Upon completion of this session, a participant should be able to do the following:
  1. Describe the basic goal of numerical modeling.

  2. Explain why equations used in modeling must be approximated.

  3. Explain the basic concepts behind the following types of models:

  4. Describe the importance of accounting for surface and grid factors in meteorological models.

  5. Describe the purpose and advantage of four dimensional data assimilation.
