Joseph SouthJoseph South serves as an instructional designer and educational technology specialist for the Foundation. He graduated from Brigham Young University in December 1995 in English with a minor in Journalism. He worked on several instructional projects as an undergraduate and has experience with video, laserdisc, on-line instruction, and the training of educators in technology. He will be pusuing an Master's degree in Instructional Science and Educational Psychology at BYU in the Fall of 1997. While at the Foundation, Joseph has provided design support for many of the Foundation's projects including an on-line air quality meteorology course, an on-line air quality modeling scenario, the redesign of the Foundation's own web site, and also wrote a survey paper describing and comparing available technologies for delivering instruction at a distance. He is also active in helping teachers and principals use the internet effectively in the classroom. Presently, he is leading the Foundation's Internet Explorers Club initiative and helping to design and support the other tiers of the SUCCEED program, a major-three year endevour that will involve the instruction of hundreds of North Carolina students in dozens of classes aimed at helping them gain an understanding of the tools, techniques, and technologies that drive cutting-edge science.
