Chris Novotny arrived at the Shodor Foundation in January of 1998 immediately upon graduation from NC State University in Raleigh, NC. This Biological Engineer immediately put to use his myriad of skills for the foundation, including teaching and writing perl scripts for both biomedical and environmental projects. Chris enjoys assisting in teaching some of the seminars, using dynamic and creative interactive techniques to drive important points home.
Chris was involved in creating the Biomedical course packet for use both this summer and in future Project SUCCEED projects, assisted in teaching the course this summer to high school students. In addition, he is heavily involved in the UNC Chemistry program as well as with the Water Education project with the NC Agricultural Extension Service.
Although born in New Jersey, Chris grew up in Clemmons, North Carolina, and attended NC State University. He graduated from the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department in December 1997, after which he began his internship here at Shodor. He will continue his education in the Fall of 1998, when he will begin classes at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
