Bethany Snyder HudnuttBethany graduated cum laude from Ohio University with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education in 1995. Along her journey to bachelorhood she also attended Bethany College and University of North Carolina, Asheville. After graduating she taught applied math for two years at Tri-County Joint Vocational School located in Nelsonville, OH. Tri-County JVS is a junior and senior trade school. She and her fiance' then ventured to warmer climates where they found a lovely eight-acre farm in northern Durham. Bethany continued her teaching career for another year at South Granville High School in Creedmoor, NC. Bethany decided to make a career change after three years of teaching in public schools. Bethany then went on to work for Measurement Incorporated - an educational assesment company - developing standardized math tests for several states.
Bethany's interests are varied. She enjoys philosophy, inparticular epistomology and philosophy of mathematics.
Other interests include music, people, cats, and country living. She married her husband, David Hudnutt on April 2001
on Magen's Bay Beach on the island of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.
Bethany became involved with Shodor upon meeting the director, Bob Panoff, while on jury duty in August 2000. Bethany and Bob convicted an armed robber together. Because the judge asked all jury members to state their name and occupation Bob found out she was a math education specialist. As fate would have it, Shodor just happened to be in need of such a math specialist to work on a newly developing project with Addison Wesley Longman. Wanting a change from the assesment industry but not wanting to leave the field of education, Bethany accepted the position with Shodor and found a terrific match. Bethany's first project at Shodor involved aligning several preservice elementary mathematics textbooks of Addison Wesley Longman's with Shodor's Interactivate materials through the text's table of contents. The project is published in a CD format as well as available online. Bethany is now project manager for Interactivate.
